Intro
A bridal Kanjivaram saree is woven with the heaviest silk, the richest pure zari, and the most elaborate border and motif work in the Kanjivaram tradition — built to be the centrepiece of a wedding trousseau and, often, an heirloom passed down for generations. Every bridal saree here is handwoven by our Kanchipuram weaver families, using pure mulberry silk and Silk Mark-certified zari, sourced directly rather than through a trading network.
What Makes a Bridal Kanjivaram
Bridal sarees typically combine korvai construction with dense brocade or zari motif work across the body and a wide, richly worked border — the weaving equivalent of full formal dress. Some pieces layer korvai borders with brocade patterning for maximum richness, a combination less common in everyday festive weaves.
Choosing a Bridal Saree
Consider the wedding's setting and your own colour preferences alongside tradition — deep reds and maroons remain the most requested bridal shades, but many brides now choose golds, greens, or even pastel-and-gold combinations. Pair with a matching or contrast blouse and traditional gold jewellery; for the ceremony itself, a heavier pure-zari piece with a wide border photographs and drapes best.
Care & Authenticity
A bridal Kanjivaram is a long-term investment, often intended to be worn again or passed down, so proper storage matters as much as the initial purchase — wrap in muslin, store flat or gently folded away from direct light, and always dry clean. Full guidance: Saree Wash & Silk Care.
