The Kanchipuram silk-cotton red and green combination saree is inspired by the Paithani weave and is designed with the muniya motif throughout the drape. The muniya motif in the textile language interprets parrot design. Parrots have been associated with passion and love, and have been traditionally used in authentic weaves for decades now. The motifs used in traditional weaves have always brought out a depiction of the close relationship of humans with nature. The saree carries two golden zari borders on either side of the body that spans out into a rich contrasting green pallu detailed with heavy gold zari patterns. The red silk-cotton body of the saree flaunts muniya motifs hand-weaved to precision with respect to the position and design in gold zari. The borders of the saree also flaunt the Paithani muniya motifs with an underlying green hue peeking through the motifs. The contrasting green pallu perfectly brings out the luxurious element in traditional Kanchipuram silk-cotton sarees. The drape is paired with a contrasting green Kanchi silk-cotton blouse fabric carrying the saree border on one side. 2. Subsequent Washes: If dry cleaning isn’t an option later, wash the saree gently in cold water. Do not use detergent. Let it air dry naturally - no wringing, no twisting.

3. Always Dry in Shade: Silk is delicate. Avoid direct sunlight, which can fade its rich colors. Instead, let it dry in a shaded, airy spot.

4. No Washing Machines or Dryers: Please never machine-wash or tumble dry your silk saree. These methods can severely damage its fabric and zari work.

5. Wash separately: To prevent colour transfer, wash the main body of the saree separately from the zari (border and pallu), as they may be dyed differently.

Storing Your Saree – A Gentle Ritual

1. Use a Cotton Cloth Bag: Wrap your saree in a soft, breathable cotton cloth or bag. Avoid plastic covers — silk loves to breathe.

2. Let It Breathe: Every few months, take your sarees out, unfold them, and let them enjoy the open air. It helps preserve their texture and keeps any musty smells away.

3. Keep Moisture Away: Store your sarees in a cool, dry place. Moisture can cause mold or mildew. Gently roll your saree onto saree rods and store it in the cupboard to help maintain its shape and preserve better.

1. Use a Cotton Barrier: When ironing, never place the hot iron directly on the silk. Instead, place a thin cotton cloth (preferably white) over the saree and press gently with medium heat.

2. No Direct Heat: Avoid steam ironing directly on the silk or zari. It may leave watermarks or dullness.
