When you wear one of our sarees, you’re not just draping fabric, you’re wearing a story. A piece of tradition, handcrafted with patience, skill, and artistry. Every saree you buy from us is one-of-a-kind, created in limited pieces, and made to become a cherished part of your life.
To make sure your saree stays as beautiful as the day you received it for years, or even generations, here's how to care for it with love and respect.
Caring for Your Silk Saree
1. First Wash:Always opt for dry cleaning for the first wash, to preserve its weave and finish.
2. Subsequent Washes:If dry cleaning isn’t an option later, wash the saree gently in cold water. Do not use detergent. Let it air dry naturally - no wringing, no twisting.
3. Always Dry in Shade:Silk is delicate. Avoid direct sunlight, which can fade its rich colors. Instead, let it dry in a shaded, airy spot.
4. No Washing Machines or Dryers:Please never machine-wash or tumble dry your silk saree. These methods can severely damage its fabric and zari work.
5.Wash separately:To prevent colour transfer, wash the main body of the saree separately from the zari (border and pallu), as they may be dyed differently.
Storing Your Saree – A Gentle Ritual
1.Use a Cotton Cloth Bag:Wrap your saree in a soft, breathable cotton cloth or bag. Avoid plastic covers — silk loves to breathe.
2. Let It Breathe:Every few months, take your sarees out, unfold them, and let them enjoy the open air. It helps preserve their texture and keeps any musty smells away.
3. Keep Moisture Away:Store your sarees in a cool, dry place. Moisture can cause mold or mildew. Gently roll your saree onto saree rods and store it in the cupboard to help maintain its shape and preserve better.
Ironing Your Saree – Do It Right
1. Use a Cotton Barrier:When ironing, never place the hot iron directly on the silk. Instead, place a thin cotton cloth (preferably white) over the saree and press gently with medium heat.
2. No Direct Heat:Avoid steam ironing directly on the silk or zari. It may leave watermarks or dullness.
Black and gold is a pairing that never fails. It’s bold, timeless and effortlessly elegant. This saree adds a bright dual tone pink border, so the deep black body glows with warmth and colour, making a Kanjivaram that feels classic and modern at once.
The body is a rich, inky black silk, scattered with large gold zari buttas shaped like floral bouquets, each one woven with detailed blossoms and leaves. Against the dark ground, the gold motifs stand out sharply and catch the light with every movement.
The dual tone pink border is joined to the body through korvai: it is woven as a separate piece and interlocked with the black body by hand on the loom. This takes two weavers working in rhythm, and it’s why the line between black and pink stays sharp and true on both sides of the saree. The border is an aduku pettu, a layered border built from rows woven one above the other. At its centre is a broad band of large floral motifs in gold jari, with rows of small blossoms, a flowing vine scroll and fine zari lines threaded with soft lavender on either side. A slim lavender edge finishes it, a subtle touch that brings out the pink beautifully.
The pallu is woven in dual tone pink and covered in dense gold zari work, falling rich and full over the shoulder. Against the black body, the pink and gold look striking from every angle.
The saree comes with a dual tone pink blouse in plain silk, with a woven border at the hem that repeats the saree’s aduku pettu: the large floral band, small blossom rows, vine scroll and lavender-threaded jari lines. It’s a perfect match for the border and pallu.
Woven in the traditional korvai technique, this is one of our light weight pattu sarees, comfortable enough to wear often. As a daily drape, it’s ideal for office days, evening events, temple visits and family gatherings, and its quiet drama makes it easy to dress up for a festive evening too. If you love classic butta sarees or have been looking for a black pattu saree with a bright, cheerful contrast, this one deserves a place in your wardrobe.
Every thread carries a name
The Weaver spent 13 days at the loom to finish what you're looking at. Every colour transition, every border detail placed by hand, with a precision that only decades of weaving can teach.
Kanchipuram's weavers have carried this craft through generations, often without recognition. At Priyangaa, we play a small role in giving the spotlight to the hands that have always been hidden.

Soft silk falls differently. I loosen my hand a little for it. The fabric tells me how much.
VeluWeaving since 2011, with expertise in Korvai.Inside the Weave
Four small details that quietly make this saree what it is.
Motifs
Look closely, and you’ll notice the little things. Inspired by nature, heritage and artistry, these motifs are thoughtfully designed to give each saree its own character.
Weaving Technique
The magic is in the way it comes together. From traditional weaves to intricate techniques, every thread is woven with intention to bring out the saree’s distinct texture, fall and form.
Zari
Sometimes it catches the light. Sometimes it quietly blends in. Every zari detail is chosen to add just the right touch of glow to your saree.
The Palette
Our colours are proudly, unmistakably our own. We create distinctive colour combinations you won’t find just anywhere, bringing together unexpected shades, timeless hues and our own unique point of view.
Made for every skin tone
Every colour at Priyangaa is chosen with intention. Before a single thread is dyed, we consider how it will sit against every complexion, warm, cool, deep, or fair.
No one should ever feel left out of Kanjivaram silk simply because of their skin tone. That's not a thought we had once. It's a standard we hold every time we curate a new saree.
Style it your way
The classic
A timeless choice if you like your sarees to do the talking. The clean neckline and three-quarter sleeves keep your look elegant and effortless.
The Bold
Perfect when you want to make a little more of a statement. The open back and striking details bring a playful edge to your saree look.
The Minimal
For when less feels like more. The clean silhouette keeps the look understated while giving your saree all the attention.
The Romantic
A lovely choice when you want something softer and more feminine. The delicate back detail adds just the right touch without taking over the look.
The Regal
Go for this when the occasion calls for something grand. The fuller sleeves and rich detailing give your saree look a beautifully traditional, dressed-up feel.
Temple jewellery
Lakshmi haram, jhumkas, oxidised gold bangles, pairs naturally with the green base and antique zari.
Antique gold
Oxidised silver choker, silver jhumkas, a statement ring, lifts the dusky border with a modern edge.
Minimal gold
Polki choker, small diamond studs, for receptions, the green base carries the sparkle without competing.
Wedding receptions
Reception, sangeet, mehendi afternoon, the bottle green photographs beautifully in low evening light.
