This is a saree of exceptional rarity and ambition — a grand, all-over brocade black Kanjivaram where every inch of the fabric, from selvage to selvage and body to pallu, is covered in a dense, multi-layered weave of extraordinary complexity. This is not a saree with motifs; it is a saree that is entirely made of motifs — a textile where the weave itself is the design, and where the design never pauses, never rests, and never repeats itself simply. It is the kind of saree that a connoisseur handles differently — more slowly, more carefully — because every centimetre of it contains something worth examining.

The body is covered in an all-over brocade check composition — a geometric grid of gold zari squares and diamonds woven across the full black silk ground, creating a rich, tessellated surface that reads from a distance as a glittering gold-on-black textile and reveals, on closer examination, an intricate internal structure of interlocking geometric forms within each check unit. Embedded within this all-over check brocade at regular intervals are individual elephant and peacock buttas — figurative motifs rendered in antique gold zari that rise from within the check ground with the authority of sacred emblems rather than decorative additions. The elephant and peacock together form one of the most culturally resonant figurative pairings in South Indian textile art — the elephant of Ganesha's auspicious presence and the peacock of Murugan's divine grace, together on a single textile surface.

The borders are the most architecturally complex element of this saree — and what makes this piece genuinely unique. Rather than a single border on each selvage edge, this saree carries a multi-register border composition of exceptional width and visual complexity. Multiple distinct border bands of varying widths, each carrying a different motif vocabulary and colour register, are stacked alongside each other to create a border that reads as a complete visual narrative in its own right. A deep navy blue band carries a running elephant and peacock procession in antique gold zari — figurative animals in continuous movement across the full saree length. Adjacent to this, a broad antique gold zari field carries dense floral and scrolling vine forms. A copper-toned zari band adds a warm metallic register. Multicolour silk accent threads introduce points of green, red, and ochre that punctuate the predominantly gold-and-black composition with rare colour notes. The entire multi-band border composition is framed by fine zari lines on both inner and outer edges, closing the complex visual architecture of the border with clean precision.

The pallu continues and deepens the brocade language of the body — black silk ground covered in dense antique gold zari brocade with large floral medallions, scrolling vines, and architectural geometric forms, additionally structured by deep navy blue panel borders that divide the pallu field into geometric registers. The navy panels carry their own internal brocade patterns in gold zari, adding a further layer of visual complexity to the pallu composition. The pallu is finished at the hem with a bold decorative border and — most distinctively — a row of hand-tied black silk tassels along the trailing edge, a finishing detail of considered craft that adds movement, weight, and a final gesture of artisanal intention to the piece.

When you wear one of our sarees, you’re not just draping fabric, you’re wearing a story. A piece of tradition, handcrafted with patience, skill, and artistry. Every saree you buy from us is one-of-a-kind, created in limited pieces, and made to become a cherished part of your life.
To make sure your saree stays as beautiful as the day you received it for years, or even generations, here's how to care for it with love and respect.

Caring for Your Silk Saree

1. First Wash: Always opt for dry cleaning for the first wash, to preserve its weave and finish.
2. Subsequent Washes: If dry cleaning isn’t an option later, wash the saree gently in cold water. Do not use detergent. Let it air dry naturally - no wringing, no twisting.
3. Always Dry in Shade: Silk is delicate. Avoid direct sunlight, which can fade its rich colors. Instead, let it dry in a shaded, airy spot.
4. No Washing Machines or Dryers: Please never machine-wash or tumble dry your silk saree. These methods can severely damage its fabric and zari work.
5. Wash separately: To prevent colour transfer, wash the main body of the saree separately from the zari (border and pallu), as they may be dyed differently.
Storing Your Saree – A Gentle Ritual

1. Use a Cotton Cloth Bag: Wrap your saree in a soft, breathable cotton cloth or bag. Avoid plastic covers — silk loves to breathe.
2. Let It Breathe: Every few months, take your sarees out, unfold them, and let them enjoy the open air. It helps preserve their texture and keeps any musty smells away.
3. Keep Moisture Away: Store your sarees in a cool, dry place. Moisture can cause mold or mildew. Gently roll your saree onto saree rods and store it in the cupboard to help maintain its shape and preserve better.

Ironing Your Saree – Do It Right

1. Use a Cotton Barrier: When ironing, never place the hot iron directly on the silk. Instead, place a thin cotton cloth (preferably white) over the saree and press gently with medium heat.
2. No Direct Heat: Avoid steam ironing directly on the silk or zari. It may leave watermarks or dullness.
