The body of this saree is woven in a rich, luminous aqua blue pure mulberry silk, forming a vivid, eye-catching ground that immediately draws attention. Across this body, large floral motifs are woven in an ikkat-inspired tie-and-dye technique — their edges deliberately softened and blurred to replicate the characteristic resist-dye effect of traditional ikkat textiles, achieved entirely on the loom without any post-weaving dye treatment. These blooms appear in deep indigo and teal, creating a painterly, watercolour-like effect against the aqua ground.

The body is further enriched with finely woven butti detailing — small, evenly scattered golden dots that add festive shimmer and a sense of depth to the silk surface, catching the light with every movement.

The border is a bold, commanding bean brown — structured in the classic kaal erangina style, a broad contrasting border that runs the full length of the saree on both sides. A fine gold zari katari line — a sharp, precision blade-edge stripe — creates a clean, elegant separation between the aqua body and the dark border, a hallmark of master Kanjivaram craftsmanship.

The pallu is woven in a dense, richly textured gold zari on a bean brown ground, featuring traditional temple and floral motifs in high-relief zari weave. The pallu hem is finished with a chevron-row zari pattern echoing the tiered silhouette of South Indian temple gopurams, lending the saree a ceremonial weight and grandeur.

MOTIF GUIDE

01 — Ikkat Pushpam Large floral bloom with intentionally blurred, feathered edges woven to mimic the resist-dye effect of traditional double-ikkat. The defining motif of this saree — achieved purely through loom technique, not dyeing.

02 — Mayil Kann Butti Tiny peacock-eye dot butties scattered rhythmically across the body. They add a festive golden shimmer to the silk ground and are a classic Kanjivaram filler motif used between larger florals.

03 — Kaal Erangina Border A broad, structured contrasting border that "rises from the foot" — the literal meaning of kaal erangina in Tamil. The bean brown border runs the full length of the saree on both selvage edges, a signature of authentic Kanjivaram construction.

04 — Katari Rekha (Zari Line) A razor-thin gold zari stripe at the inner border edge. Katari means dagger or blade — the line is deliberately sharp and narrow, creating a precise visual boundary between body and border. A mark of weaving finesse.

05 — Valli & Poo Pallu Motifs Creeper vine (valli) and floral (poo) motifs woven in gold zari across the pallu field on the bean brown ground. These traditional motifs represent prosperity and natural abundance in Kanjivaram iconography.

06 — Kovil Gopuram Hem Border The pallu hem is finished with a chevron-row zari pattern that echoes the tiered, stepped silhouette of South Indian temple towers (gopurams). This border adds ceremonial weight and frames the pallu with architectural grandeur.

HERITAGE

The art of weaving ikkat-inspired patterns on a Kanjivaram loom is among the most technically demanding expressions of the weaver's craft — where the blurred, feathered edges of resist-dye traditions from Odisha and Andhra are recreated entirely through thread sequencing and colour placement on the loom, without a drop of dye applied after weaving. This saree carries that cross-cultural conversation in every inch of its warp and weft. Woven in pure mulberry silk on a traditional pit loom, bound in gold zari, it is a Kanchipuram weaver's tribute to the ancient ikkat tradition — a dialogue between two of India's greatest textile heritages, united in a single length of silk.

When you wear one of our sarees, you’re not just draping fabric, you’re wearing a story. A piece of tradition, handcrafted with patience, skill, and artistry. Every saree you buy from us is one-of-a-kind, created in limited pieces, and made to become a cherished part of your life.
To make sure your saree stays as beautiful as the day you received it for years, or even generations, here's how to care for it with love and respect.

Caring for Your Silk Saree

1. First Wash: Always opt for dry cleaning for the first wash, to preserve its weave and finish.
2. Subsequent Washes: If dry cleaning isn’t an option later, wash the saree gently in cold water. Do not use detergent. Let it air dry naturally - no wringing, no twisting.
3. Always Dry in Shade: Silk is delicate. Avoid direct sunlight, which can fade its rich colors. Instead, let it dry in a shaded, airy spot.
4. No Washing Machines or Dryers: Please never machine-wash or tumble dry your silk saree. These methods can severely damage its fabric and zari work.
5. Wash separately: To prevent colour transfer, wash the main body of the saree separately from the zari (border and pallu), as they may be dyed differently.
Storing Your Saree – A Gentle Ritual

1. Use a Cotton Cloth Bag: Wrap your saree in a soft, breathable cotton cloth or bag. Avoid plastic covers — silk loves to breathe.
2. Let It Breathe: Every few months, take your sarees out, unfold them, and let them enjoy the open air. It helps preserve their texture and keeps any musty smells away.
3. Keep Moisture Away: Store your sarees in a cool, dry place. Moisture can cause mold or mildew. Gently roll your saree onto saree rods and store it in the cupboard to help maintain its shape and preserve better.

Ironing Your Saree – Do It Right

1. Use a Cotton Barrier: When ironing, never place the hot iron directly on the silk. Instead, place a thin cotton cloth (preferably white) over the saree and press gently with medium heat.
2. No Direct Heat: Avoid steam ironing directly on the silk or zari. It may leave watermarks or dullness.
