When you wear one of our sarees, you’re not just draping fabric, you’re wearing a story. A piece of tradition, handcrafted with patience, skill, and artistry. Every saree you buy from us is one-of-a-kind, created in limited pieces, and made to become a cherished part of your life.
To make sure your saree stays as beautiful as the day you received it for years, or even generations, here's how to care for it with love and respect.
Caring for Your Silk Saree
1. First Wash:Always opt for dry cleaning for the first wash, to preserve its weave and finish.
2. Subsequent Washes:If dry cleaning isn’t an option later, wash the saree gently in cold water. Do not use detergent. Let it air dry naturally - no wringing, no twisting.
3. Always Dry in Shade:Silk is delicate. Avoid direct sunlight, which can fade its rich colors. Instead, let it dry in a shaded, airy spot.
4. No Washing Machines or Dryers:Please never machine-wash or tumble dry your silk saree. These methods can severely damage its fabric and zari work.
5.Wash separately:To prevent colour transfer, wash the main body of the saree separately from the zari (border and pallu), as they may be dyed differently.
Storing Your Saree – A Gentle Ritual
1.Use a Cotton Cloth Bag:Wrap your saree in a soft, breathable cotton cloth or bag. Avoid plastic covers — silk loves to breathe.
2. Let It Breathe:Every few months, take your sarees out, unfold them, and let them enjoy the open air. It helps preserve their texture and keeps any musty smells away.
3. Keep Moisture Away:Store your sarees in a cool, dry place. Moisture can cause mold or mildew. Gently roll your saree onto saree rods and store it in the cupboard to help maintain its shape and preserve better.
Ironing Your Saree – Do It Right
1. Use a Cotton Barrier:When ironing, never place the hot iron directly on the silk. Instead, place a thin cotton cloth (preferably white) over the saree and press gently with medium heat.
2. No Direct Heat:Avoid steam ironing directly on the silk or zari. It may leave watermarks or dullness.
Where moonlit stone meets dark cocoa, and gold remembers the hands that wove it.
Some sarees announce themselves. This one draws you in slowly, the way an old temple corridor does, all shadow and warmth and quiet gold.
The body is woven in oyster grey, the soft, changing shade of a pearl's inner shell or a monsoon sky over the Kanchi hills just before the first rain. It shifts with the light: silver at noon, pale mushroom by lamplight, and a gentle sheen whenever the drape moves. Small zari buttas are scattered across this calm ground like temple bells caught mid-chime, adding just enough light without crowding the silk.
Along its edges runs the heart of the saree: a retta pettu double border in deep chocolate brown, joined to the body through the korvai technique. Korvai is among the most demanding methods in the Kanjivaram tradition. Body and border are woven separately and interlocked thread by thread on the loom, so the contrast stays crisp and true for generations instead of bleeding or blurring. Twin bands of burnished zari frame rich cocoa stripes, giving the border an architectural depth, like carved gopuram tiers rendered in silk.
Then comes the pallu, where the weaver gives everything. It is a rich, zari-laden expanse in chocolate and antique gold, densely patterned and glowing like embers under ash. Draped over the shoulder, it falls with the weight and grace that only true handloom silk carries, a finish that turns every movement into an entrance.
A matching blouse in deep brown completes the story, keeping the palette restrained and regal.
This is a saree for those who prefer understatement to excess: the bride's mother who wants to be remembered without upstaging, the woman at a temple festival who carries tradition lightly, the collector who knows that grey and brown, done well, are the most aristocratic colours of all.
Woven slowly. Worn for a lifetime. Passed down with a story.

Oyester Grey and Chocolate Brown Retta Petu Pure Kanjivaram Silk Saree
Every thread carries a name
The Weaver spent 13 days at the loom to finish what you're looking at. Every colour transition, every border detail placed by hand, with a precision that only decades of weaving can teach.
Kanchipuram's weavers have carried this craft through generations, often without recognition. At Priyangaa, we play a small role in giving the spotlight to the hands that have always been hidden.

Rettai pettu is slow, careful work. That is exactly why I love it.

Four small details that quietly make this saree what it is.
Motifs
Look closely, and you’ll notice the little things. Inspired by nature, heritage and artistry, these motifs are thoughtfully designed to give each saree its own character.
Weaving Technique
The magic is in the way it comes together. From traditional weaves to intricate techniques, every thread is woven with intention to bring out the saree’s distinct texture, fall and form.
Zari
Sometimes it catches the light. Sometimes it quietly blends in. Every zari detail is chosen to add just the right touch of glow to your saree.
The Palette
Our colours are proudly, unmistakably our own. We create distinctive colour combinations you won’t find just anywhere, bringing together unexpected shades, timeless hues and our own unique point of view.
Made for every skin tone
Every colour at Priyangaa is chosen with intention. Before a single thread is dyed, we consider how it will sit against every complexion, warm, cool, deep, or fair.
No one should ever feel left out of Kanjivaram silk simply because of their skin tone. That's not a thought we had once. It's a standard we hold every time we curate a new saree.
Style it your way
The classic
A timeless choice if you like your sarees to do the talking. The clean neckline and three-quarter sleeves keep your look elegant and effortless.
The Bold
Perfect when you want to make a little more of a statement. The open back and striking details bring a playful edge to your saree look.
The Minimal
For when less feels like more. The clean silhouette keeps the look understated while giving your saree all the attention.
The Romantic
A lovely choice when you want something softer and more feminine. The delicate back detail adds just the right touch without taking over the look.
The Regal
Go for this when the occasion calls for something grand. The fuller sleeves and rich detailing give your saree look a beautifully traditional, dressed-up feel.
Temple jewellery
Lakshmi haram, jhumkas, oxidised gold bangles, pairs naturally with the green base and antique zari.
Antique gold
Oxidised silver choker, silver jhumkas, a statement ring, lifts the dusky border with a modern edge.
Minimal gold
Polki choker, small diamond studs, for receptions, the green base carries the sparkle without competing.
Wedding receptions
Reception, sangeet, mehendi afternoon, the bottle green photographs beautifully in low evening light.
Festival pujas
Diwali, Pongal, Varalakshmi Vratam, the dusky border keeps it festive without feeling overly formal.
Milestone anniversaries
Engagement, anniversary dinner, baby's naming, a saree that holds the weight of the day.
